Prelude
-------
A client claiming to be the government of a small central
African country hires granite. Rebels working in
conjunction with an established mercenary company have seized
an important petroleum refining facility. Granite is to
recover this property.
Granite accepts the job. Elite troops are sent in to make
quick and bloodless work of the operation. While attempting
to seize the facility, Granite's forces are met with unexpectedly
powerful opposition. They are dealt a serious defeat from the
rebels working with the Tetsu Yama mercenary corporation. They
are respected, feared, well equipped and very professional.
Almost entirely decimated, the few remaining Granite troops
expect to be extracted. Instead, they receive the following
sat-com transmission:
YOUR DEPLOYMENT IS UNAUTHORIZED AND ILLEGAL. ALL KNOWLEDGE
OF YOUR PRESENCE WILL BE DENIED. YOUR UNIT HAS BEEN DEFUNDED.
- GRANITE COMMAND
Betrayed and trapped in Africa, the remaining troops decide
to unite and find a way out of their situation. You take
command of the unit. Shadow Company is born. In your command
are:
Lewis Underwood
- Irish, ex-IRA combatant, now freelancing.
Chloe Marco
- American, ex-FBI Hostage Rescue Team, in forced retirement.
John Emerson
- American, ex-CIA now working in the private sector.
Game Basics
-----------
After selecting "Single Player", the mission planning screen
will be displayed. This will inform you of your mission
objectives.
The "Team" button will take you to the screen where you can
build your team by selecting from the three mercenaries.
Mercenaries have their own strengths and weaknesses so plan
carefully when you arm them.
The "Equip" button allows you to arm your mercs. You can
drag objects from your inventory to either the mercs primary
and secondary weapon slots (upper left boxes under the name) or
place them in their pack. You may also trade with the arms
dealer by dragging items you want to sell from your inventory
to the sell screen and dragging items you want to buy from the
dealer to the buy screen. "Accept" will complete the transaction.
Once your team is armed and ready, return to the planning
screen and hit "Launch." You will be placed at the insertion
point and be ready to go. While in the game, you can review your
objectives at any time by pressing the Tab key. The F1 key
will display all the key assignments.
Move your mercs by clicking on either them or their portrait to
select them, and then click on the spot you want them to move to.
Single click will move at a normal pace and double click will be
at a fast pace. Your mercs will respond when shot at, but if you
want them to take the offensive, use the force fire functions.

Compatibility Issues & Notes
----------------------------
- The game has not been fully optimized yet, so it may seem
sluggish if played on a non-P2 system. Turning off in-game
options, such as turning off shadows or dithering, can help
considerably.
- Shadow Company has been tested under a variety of conditions
on the most prominent gaming hardware. For the best results,
we recommend using at least an 8mb fully D3D compatible card.
- The game has run successfully on the Voodoo1, Voodoo2, TNT,
i740, RagePro, G200, riva128 chipsets. There are
compatibility problems with the TNT Reference Detonator and
the Diamond V550 drivers which cause the fog to become too
thick for play, but the drivers from other brands work well.
- The G200 chipset renders the fog very opaque, but is
easily playable.
- If you have a Voodoo I or VoodooII card, do not play the game
at 1024x768. This will lock up your machine.
- The ATI RagePro chipset is only useable on an AGP 8mb card
(not an OEM on-board chip) Shadow Company is not yet working
with the ATI RageFury.
- On some video cards, the user interface screens may flash
as you move the mouse. To resolve this problem, select
Options and turn off 'Frame Rate Independent Mouse'
